Bad Touch Video Evaluation.

From making this Bad touch music video I feel I have gained many new skills such as how to use a camera by using all of its important functions. I have also learnt how to use a new programme, Premiere Pro. When we began using the camera I didnt feel like I knew much about the functions it had on it. From this I have learnt how to frame shots, to be able to put everything into focus and other small functions. I also learnt that to make a shot look to a high standard it must be steady.

Our task was as a class produce a remake of the Bad Touch music video so we each took a role in the video for example we had five monkeys, five girls and three chefs. We took it in turn of filming and trying to use the camera and we then imported our shots in to Premiere Pro so we could begin editing.
On this programme I learnt how to import, edit and crop clips. At first I found this quite challenging, however it got easier the more time I spent editing the video. I learnt how to put effects on the clips, cut and change the clip before actually importing the clip. I had to lipsync and syncronize clips to the music which for me was the most difficult part of editing the video. When I had to import a shot on to the timeline I had to unlink the sounds so that they did not play over the top of the Bad touch soundtrack.

From this experience I know I can take away two new skills with me, however I have learnt that if we had done things better then our video could have turned out better, for example:
  • When we were filming we could have taken things more seriously, not laughed in shots, not smiling
  • Having patience

Looking back, I didnt expect that it would take me a long time to edit the video I was not expecting it to be so time consuming and hard work however I found out that it was. I know that I need to work on my time management a little more. The process of filming also took longer than I was expecting. I didnt know that when filming such a short music video of 3-4 minutes that there would be so many shots to carry out on the storyboard. I feel like I have learnt a lot from this video task and I have taken away with me two or three new skills.
